A cocktail in a spectacular historic setting

Frescohallen is set inside Bergen’s former stock exchange, and the building alone is reason enough to step inside. The huge historic frescoes, high ceilings and grand architecture make having a drink here feel like an experience in itself.
Why I recommend it
I came here for a gin and tonic, and while the price definitely made me look twice, I would still recommend doing exactly the same. Frescohallen sits inside Bergen’s old stock exchange building, and the room is absolutely spectacular. The walls and ceilings are covered in enormous historic frescoes depicting Bergen’s trading and business history, which makes it feel much more like having a drink inside a piece of the city’s history than simply visiting another cocktail bar. You can eat here as well, but for me this is a place to order one good drink, take your time and properly look around.
What to do
Keep it simple: order a gin and tonic or whichever cocktail catches your eye. You can absolutely stay for food, but I would personally spend the money on a drink, take your time and enjoy the room around you.
Good to know
Yes, it is expensive. But then again, you are in Norway... cheap drinks are not exactly what you came here for. Frescohallen is definitely on the pricier side even by Bergen standards, but this is one of those occasions where I would simply accept it. Order one drink, find a good spot and enjoy the incredible building. You are paying for the setting almost as much as what is in your glass.
